Let me preface this by saying what we have done for the Super Bowl the past, oh, since I can remember, hardly passes as a party by most people’s standards.

I haven’t enjoyed an adult beverage during the big game (or at all) since Brett Favre John Elway was playing quarterback, which if you’re scoring at home was Super Bowl XXXII (that means thirty-two, kids). (more…)

OK, we’re at 14 weeks, or T-minus 182 days until the ETA of Baby Jarrett and the impending demise of Life As We Know It.

We are now unequivocally in the second trimester, or as I call it, the boring trimester, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Before you freak out on me, I know the next 14 weeks won’t actually be boring; we’re only a few weeks away from the excitement of learning the gender (sorry, I refuse to use “sex” when there’s a perfectly good synonym that doesn’t have an alternate definition) and in some ways it gets more exciting with each passing day. I wasn’t going to post today, because I have a ton of work to do and I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t run out of material in the next 189 days. At the suggestion of a couple friends, I went to BabyCenter.com and signed up for their e-mail newsletter, which sends an update each week on developments in your pregnancy.

It’s a very cool service that demystifies the process somewhat, especially for the dad-to-be, who can sometimes feel like days go by without anything happening and start to annoy their wives with prying questions about how they’re feeling.

I *heart* irony

OK, it’s Alanis Morissette irony, and not real irony, but whatever. Came home from the ultrasound appointment yesterday to find a hot pink flyer folded up and stuffed in the newspaper slot below our mailbox.

I’m sure the free samples of Cialis will arrive any day now.
