Ever since Truman arrived a little more than two weeks ago, I’ve been contemplating my next blog post, but it has been extremely difficult to find the time to write it and even more challenging to find the words to do it justice.
A friend once told me the greatest writer in the world could not put into words the feeling that washes over a new parent when they first meet their child. That’s the absolute truth, and I’m nowhere near the world’s greatest writer, so I almost feel insignificant even thinking about trying to write about that moment.
It was truly indescribable and unlike anything I’ve experienced.
The two weeks since have been just as rewarding as the three of us — err, four of us; sorry, Chile — get to know one another and build this new life together. I’ll not bore you with the details except to say that mom and Truman are happy and healthy, that he usually grants us enough sleep to be functioning human beings and that I owe Chile an apology, because he has proven to be the most wonderful, tolerant cat you could imagine even as this new creature invades his territory and steals more than his share of attention.
Anything else I wanted to say in this post can be found in the column I wrote for today’s sports section. It’s probably teetering on the precipice between sappy and cheesy, but it strikes the chord I was going for. Hope you enjoy.

As it should be! Glad to hear you are all doing well, enjoy every second of this very special time.
